Velma Via Brinkley, daughter of the late Veluvian A. and Reba H. Via, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

She was the granddaughter of the late Samuel W. and Bessie P. Hayes and W.F. and Mabel M. Via. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Dale A. Via and his wife, Judy; along with her parents-in-law, Malcolm and Mary Brinkley. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Danny Brinkley; son, Joshua Neil; daughter, Lindsey Nicole; sisters, Newassa Gentry and her husband, Scott, and Cathy V. Sullivan, and Joel W. Sullivan Jr.; sister-in-law, Doris B. Garland and her husband, Jessie; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Marge Heflin and Kim Gleason. Velma was an employee of Ovenaire for 20 years and was currently employed at Albemarle County. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Free Union Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Pastor Alan Acree officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
