Milton Wayne Lawson, 63, of Earlysville, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 1, 1948, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Jesse Willard and Hazel Jones Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Lawson Birckhead.

Mr. Lawson retired from Safeway Stores. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and previously served on the Deacon Board. He loved his church and his church family.

He is survived by his wife Myra Frances Lawson; two daughters, Janet Lawson Ballard and her husband, Andy, and Christen Lawson Marshall and her husband, Kevin; one son, Jonathan Wayne Lawson; one sister, Norma Jean Davis and her husband, Chris; one brother, Jesse Willard Lawson Jr. and his wife, Joyce; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Birckhead. He was "Papaw" to six grandchildren, Morgan Elaine Ballard, Madelyn Christine Ballard, Carter MacKenzie Marshall, Jaelyn Brooke Marshall, Bailey Michelle Marshall and Kendall Devon Marshall, whom he cherished.

Milton enjoyed his music and had a group known as the "Country Church Singers", whom he loved being with.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Wendell Lamb and Pastor Jerry Decelle officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church.
