Not necessarily in this order: I studied cinematography for two years at VCU, worked as a cameraman for Jefferson Cable, was a projectionist at both Barracks Road Theater and the Ridge Drive-in, worked part-time as a rural letter carrier for the old USPOD (and USPS), attended UVA (legal draft dodging), and finally ended up working full time for the P.O. for 36 years, retiring in 2007. Julia and I got hitched in 1982. Virginia came along in 1984, Will in 1989. Now I've returned to filmmaking.
When President Nixon threatened to abolish the U.S. Tea Tasting Board (I'm not making that up!), I made four small posters to try and start the satirical and frivolous "Save Our Tea Movement." As I was taping the last poster to the wall of the first landing of the front stairwell, Mr. King spied me. Soon my remaining poster and I were having a conference in his office. It was all poor Julian could do to keep from laughing as he explained that unauthorized posters were not going to be tolerated at AHS.
