John William Taylor III, 72, of Ruckersville, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at his home.

Born November 4, 1942, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late John William Taylor II and Louise Pugh Taylor. In addition, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth.

John served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968. John retired as the Warranty Administrator for Battlefield Ford and was also a long-time employee of Safeway Stores. He also was a life member of the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Department.He was a lifetime member of Covesville Baptist Church. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara J. Taylor; two daughters, Kristina Shifflett and Lisa Madison; four grandchildren, Burgundy Draper, Preston Shifflett, Dylan Madison and Gracie Madison; one brother, Jerry Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Covesville Baptist Church with the Reverend Larry Campbell and the Reverend Terry Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Teague Funeral Home.
