In Memory

Joseph Meredith Goldsmith - Class Of 1962

Joseph Meredith Goldsmith died at his home on March 9, 2017.

He was born on November 14, 1942, in Charlottesville, Va. to the late Cyril Hankins Goldsmith and Angie Bishop Goldsmith.

After years at VEPCO, Joe became owner and founder of Goldsmith Construction and was a member of the Charlottesville Municipal Band for 50 plus years. His love of music and the French horn gave him many years of happiness, and the band provided him with many lifetime friends.

He leaves behind his sister, Nancy Brewer and her husband, Jim and their children, Angelin and Brent Ham, Jimmie and Elizabeth Brewer, and Laura Brewer and Angie Liggett; and nieces and nephews, Ben, Brendan, and Berkley Ham and James and Virginia Brewer.

Joey or Uncle Joey, affectionately known by his family, will be missed and remembered always. We praise God for his life and that he is no longer in pain.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Charlottesville Municipal Band, 1119 5th St. SW, Charlottesville, VA 22902, in his memory.

Hill and Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and condolences may be sent to www.hillandwood.com.
