Douglas Alan Fitz
Douglas Alan Fitz, 45, of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at a local hospital.
Born on February 6, 1965, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Elvin and Georgia Collier; his step-father, Mervin Shifflett; and his father, Robert L. Fitz.
He is survived by his mother, Goldie Fitz; his fiancee, Kathy Gobel; two special friends, Nellie and Donald Gobel; brothers and sisters, Bobby Fitz and Diane Thomas of Gordonsville, Terry and Neanne Fitz of Palmyra, Pam and J.R. Weeks of Stanardsville, Jimmy and Rebecca Fitz of Gordonsville, Patricia and John Call of Stanardsville, Timmy and Becky Fitz of Louisa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug worked in lawncare for Bo McWilliams Lawn Care Service and graduated from Albemarle High School in 1983. He liked Nascar, the Indianapolis Colts, loved fishing with his brothers, the University of Virginia Cavaliers and his bowling league.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Medical Center Intensive Care Unit and the West 3 staff at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Teague Chapel. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Teague Funeral Home.
