Ben Davis Eichelberger III - Class Of 1984

Ben Davis Eichelberger III passed away on November 18, 2011.

Davis was my best friend when we were children and growing up in Earlysville. I went to school with him at Broadus Wood Elementary around 1973-1974. He was my only friend that I had and he would visit me at my home or I would visit him at his home from time to time. I remember when our school put on "A Charlie Brown Christmas" play and Davis and I both wanted the part of "Linus" but the part went to him instead. Another AHS Class of 1984 alumni, Tony Roche, got the part of "Charlie Brown". I moved away from Earlysville sometime in 1974 but continued to go to Albemarle County schools, eventually graduating from Western Albemarle High School in 1984. I never forgot Davis and just recently found out that his father passed away in March 2012 and that he had predeceased his dad by a few months. I am saddened by this and wish I could have found Davis as an adult and told him thanks for being such a good friend to me when I needed it the most.

I also remember Davis from Broadus Wood.  I remember we were learning our directions and he told me " It's easy to remember west and east because together they spell we."  I never forgot that.  I agree with the previous entry.  He was a great friend to everybody.  This is really sad news.
