Edward Nelson Maddox

     Edward Nelson Maddox, 54, of Esmont, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at his home.

     He was born November 29, 1958 in Richmond, a son of Doris Taylor (Bragg) Maddox of Esmont and the late Marion Edward Maddox.

     In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Maddox.

     Mr. Maddox worked as an Engineer with Comcast.  He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and hunting and was a lifetime member of the NRA.  He also enjoyed coaching baseball for many years.  Above all, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

     Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Teresa Louise (Hutton) Maddox; four sons, Shawn N. Maddox and his wife, Erica; Christopher E. Maddox and his significant other, Cathi, Rodney J. Maddox and his wife, Kristina, and Michael M. Maddox and his wife, Jessica, eight grandchildren, Caleb, Aiden, Brittany, Amber, Mikayla, Jason, Mackenzie and Devlin; and three sisters, Sharon Wray and her husband, David, Lynn Combs and her husband, Steve, and Ruth Haddick and her husband, Carl.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 2500 Old Lynchburg Rd. in North Garden by the Reverend Todd Brooking.  Burial will follow at Alberene Cemetery.

     The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1445 Rio Rd. East, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
