Wayne Franklin Winston

Wayne Franklin Winston went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, George Franklin Winston; paternal grandparents, Lindsay and Lucy Winston; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Estelle Frye; niece, Samone Phillips; and brother-in-law, Samuel Phillips.

Wayne was educated in the Albemarle County Public Schools and graduated from Albemarle High School (Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical School) in 1976. After graduating from high school, Wayne became a master carpenter, welder, and self-employed entrepreneur, and most of all avid fisherman.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted companion of 27 years, Kimberly Walton; son, John Lindsay Winston; his mother, Odell F. Winston; two sisters, Brenda W. Phillips and Angela W. Fitzgerald; one niece, Tierra B. Lackey; two nephews, Keith G. Balmer and John R. Fitzgerald III; four aunts, Ernestine E. Winston, Mary "Mamie" Thomas , Deotis Frye and Margaret Cobbs; one great-aunt, Elizabeth S. Wicks; a host of other relatives, many dear friends and man's best friend, Tyson "Teetee".

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Covenant Church, 1025 East Rio Road Charlottesville, Virginia, with the Reverend Jeffrey O. Kino Officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery.

Charles "Connie" Crenshaw (1958)

It is always sad to lose a member of the Albemarle High School Alumni family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
