Luther Willard Patteson Jr - Class Of 1972

Luther Willard Patteson Jr., 67, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly January 12, 2022.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi, on June 13, 1954, Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Luther Willard Patteson and Estene Jones Patteson.

Bill is survived by his wife, Julie Anna Patteson; stepson, Jarrod Cochran and his wife, Jill; two wonderful grandchildren, Stevi and Cade of Lenexa, Kan.; sister, Sherri Patteson Ryan (Bill) of Richmond, Va;. brother, Stephen Patteson (Candace) of Endicott, N.Y..; niece, Leah Ryan Moser (Mike) and great niece, Skylar Ryan of Powhatan, Va.; nephews, Ian Patteson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Colin Patteson (Courtinie) of Binghamton, N.Y.; aunt, Cynthia Patteson Douglas (Bobby) of Bruce, Miss., and numerous cousins throughout the U.S.

Bill grew up in Charlottesville, Va. and graduated from Albemarle High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Va. He enjoyed a lengthy career as an officer in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Bill enjoyed life and will be remembered for his enduring faith, love of family, sense of humor, love of music, and passion for hunting and the great outdoors.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan, Kan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Wounded Warrior Projectwoundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
