Glenn Albert Collins - Class Of 1972

 

Glenn Albert Collins Sr., born May 11, 1953, was called home Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at his home. He was born in Albemarle County and was the eldest son of Charlotte Ann Dillard of Keswick.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles S. Dillard; a sister, Margie D. Timberlake; and a nephew, Charles S. Dillard III.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte A. Dillard of Keswick; one son, Glenn A. Collins, Jr. of Earlysville; and two brothers, Minister Charles (Sandy) Dillard and his wife, Annette Daniel, of Louisa, and Michael J. Dillard and his wife, Carolyn Mitchell Dillard, of Keswick.

Glenn leaves a beloved family of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory: Tyesha M. Timberlake of San Diego, California; LaChandra D. Timberlake, Roderick R. Timberlake, and Sherrie M. Timberlake, all of Keswick; Marcus T. Dillard and Tamari D. Dillard, both of Louisa; and Alexandra C. Dillard and Kenneth Charles Dillard, both of Keswick. Glenn was blessed to have a large family, which includes a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was a beloved friend of Teiseer and Frank Eways, and a devoted employee of Salem M. Eways for 35 years. He would have us recognize his closest friends, George Johnson of Charlottesville, Steve Allen of Earlysville, Claude D. Phillips Jr. of Charlottesville, James Quarles Jr. of Keswick, and Gloria E. Linton of Earlysville, and her children Claudia and Connor.

Glenn graduated from Albemarle High School in 1972 and went on to master the art of Oriental rug weaving and restoration.

Glenn confessed that Christ was his Lord and Savior and held a strong faith in prayer.

His Home Going service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
