Philip Latham Beaurline, 59, of Ivy, Virginia, died on Friday, January 18, 2013, just before midnight at the University of Virginia Medical Center from complications of the flu.

Philip was born in Davenport, Iowa, on April 7, 1953, and moved to Charlottesville, at age 7, where he formed close friendships that would last the rest of his life. He attended Venable, Walker, and Albemarle High Schools, as well as Grinnell College.

He had many adventures and occupations, taking him to every state in the union. He was a carpenter, cowboy, blacksmith, miner, and bricklayer before starting his 25-year career as an architectural photographer. Philip photographed many of the most beautiful and historic homes in Virginia and throughout the country. He also had several shows of his decades-long project of photographing 16th century churches and monasteries in rural Mexico. Many of his photographs can be seen on his website at www.beaurline.com. He loved his family, traveling, music, cooking, fine wine, building, gardening, and the natural world. Philip was a brother to a wide circle of friends who will miss him enormously and feel grateful for the beauty and fun he brought to their lives.

Predeceased by younger brother, Robert, father, Lester and mother, Mary, Philip is survived by his wife, Marie, and son, Anders, of Charlottesville; as well as his sister, Erica Mikula of Key West, Florida. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
