Betty Jo "B.J." Bruce, 60, of Charlottesville, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 26, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 28, 1949, the daughter of Doris Bruce and "Dad" Phil Davis of White Hall, VA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis W. Bruce, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Carroll Lee Shifflett, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Charlottesville; sister, Linda Carver of Waynesboro; three brothers, D.W. Bruce of White Hall; Michael Bruce of Charlottesville and Kenny Bruce of White Hall.
In addition she is survived by several loving nieces, Vicky, Erin, Sarah and Kristy: nephew, Brandon: great nieces, Lexi and Caris and great nephews, McKinley, Mitchell, Nicholas and Elias; cousins and many close loving friends.
She was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church and a member of the Charlottesville Moose Lodge.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Short and the nursing staff on the 5th floor at Martha Jefferson Hospital, and a special thank you to Jerry Caplin's family for their kindness and support.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, 2010 at Mount. Moriah United Methodist Church, 4524 Garth Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901, conducted by Rev. Chris McLain.
Interment at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
