Donald Tyrus Tisdale - Class Of 1966

Donald Tyrus Tisdale, 57, of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in a local hospital.

    Born Oct. 4, 1946, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late John P. Tisdale and Letitia Birkhead Tisdale.  He was also preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Tisdale.

    He was a graduate of Phillips Business College, an Army veteran of Vietnam, a member of the Lions Club, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

    Don was an entrepreneur who found great satisfaction and joy in his work.  Never having met a stranger, he loved people and freely gave of his time and resources for others without reluctance.  He was a productive artist with limitless creativity in which he truly found fulfilled happiness which emanated to everyone around him and in whose hearts a part of him will live forever.  His general love for people is surpassed only by his love for and devotion to his wife, children, and family.

    Donald is survived by his wife, Deborah Tisdale of Charlottesville; two daughters, Charlotte Tisdale and her husband, Larry Houchens, of Palmyra, and Emilie Jo Tisdale; one son, John Pierce Tisdale, 11 of Charlottesville; two sisters, Marie Brown and her husband, Tommy, of Sumter, S.C., and Joan Day and her husband, Brian, of Charlottesville; three brothers, Dan Tisdale of Orange County, Calif., Scott Hoy and his wife, Susie, of Charlottesville, and Kenny Hoy and his wife, Patricia, of Charlottesville; his mother-in-law, Emma Murray of Charlottesville; and 10 nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Sadler officiating.

    The family will receive friends at their residence on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, from 6 to 8 P.M.

    The family requests that any memorial remembrances be in the form of red poinsettias or contributions sent to Calvary Baptist Church.

          Hill & Wood Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
