Lacy Foster Paulette III, 70, died March 24, 2018, at Kansas City Hospice House. A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, March 31, 1-5 p.m. at the Laura Nelson Mansion, 515 Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Private inurnment at a later date.
Born January 9, 1948 in Richmond, VA, Foster graduated from Albemarle County High School, Charlottesville, VA; attended Elon College, Elon, NC; graduated from Univ. of GA, Athens, GA, BA-Geography; Univ. of AZ, Tucson, AZ, MA-Urban Planning; UVa, Charlottesville, VA, MA-Landscape Architecture. He served in the USAF during the Vietnam War.
Foster was a middle-distance runner in college and competed in meets around the world while in the Air Force. He was such an avid traveler, he found joy in creating itineraries for others so they could share his love of exploring the world. He became quite accomplished at photography, always a camera at hand while traveling to capture cherished “long views.” He delighted in living in the Brookside neighborhood, giving back by serving on the Wornall-Majors House Museum Board.
Foster retired in 2011 from the City of Lee’s Summit, MO, as a Parks Superintendent, after playing a key role in developing of many signature parks and trails.
Foster was preceded in death by his parents; Lacy Foster Paulette, Jr and Margaret (Gwaltney) Paulette.
He is survived by wife, Judith; his children, Foster Rhea (Meredith Franks) of Merriam, KS, and Mary Carrington, Amherst, MA; his sister, Faith Hurley (John); nephew, Jordan; niece, Ellen (Nick Rizzuto) of Annandale, VA; Pam Morris (Timothy); nephews RJ Thompson and Colton Morris; niece, Amanda Dunkum (Chip); great-nephew, Camden; great-niece, Cali of Buckingham, VA.; step-nephews: Tyler Morris (Michelle); Adam Morris (Lindsay). He is also survived by step-daughter, Sara Harms (Jeff) step-grandchildren: Hannah, Graison, Hudson of KC, MO and former wife and mother of his children, Marion Paulette (Joe Cebula), Prairie Village, KS.
