Frances Ann Lawson (Birckhead) - Class Of 1965


Photo Frances Lawson Birckhead went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at her home in Earlysville.

During her illness, she was supported by her husband, Bobby, as well as her children and numerous family and friends.

Born May 21, 1946, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Willard Lawson and the late Hazel Odell Lawson. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Aubrey Birckhead.

Frances is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bobby Birckhead of Earlysville; her daughter, Teresa Dillard and her husband, Mike, of Fluvanna; her son, Bobby Birckhead Jr. of Earlysville; a granddaughter, Ashley Hildebrand and her husband, Ian, of Pennsylvania; a very special granddaughter, Ashley Grooms, whom she thought of as her own daughter; two great-grandchildren, whom she spoke of often, Gaige McKinley Hildebrand and Ysabella Jalyn Hildebrand, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Jesse Lawson Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Ruckersville, and Melton Lawson and his wife, Myra, of Earlysville; a very special sister, Norma Davis and her husband, Chris, of Ruckersville; a sister-in-law, Thelma Thurman of Troy; a brother-in-law, R. L. Birckhead of Earlysville; her mother-in-law, Margaret Birckhead of Earlysville; a very special, devoted, family relative and friend, Barbara Hussey of Earlysville; and a host of many relatives and friends.

Frances worked for the University of Virginia Health Information Services Department for the past 30 years. Frances was loved by all of whom have had the opportunity to have known her. She loved giving and pleasing others, often putting everyone else before herself. Frances was also a member of the Hi-Horse Cloggers for the past 10 plus years. She truly enjoyed clogging with the club at numerous functions. In fact, many times while having a conversation with Frances, her feet would be clogging. Frances will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a loyal friend to many.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Teague Chapel, with Pastor Buster Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at the Teague Funeral Home.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of the Hospice of the Piedmont, Dr. Gordon Morris and Dr. William Moors.
