Samuel Patteson Clarke (1966)

Carolyn Lee Bailey, 59, of Crozet, died at a local hospital on Thursday, May 19, 2005.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1945, in Albemarle County to the late Clyde Temple Bailey and Carmen Madison Bailey. She was preceded in death by one brother, C. Temple Bailey Jr., of Crozet; a special uncle, H.D. Madison of Crozet, (her second father); and a brother-in-law , Dennis Rea of Crozet.

She is survived by one sister, Katherine Rea of Crozet; one brother, Edgar Bailey and his wife, Sue, of Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Selma Bailey of Crozet; special first cousins (her sisters and brother) and their spouses, Sandra Madison Cooper and her husband, Roger, of Stuarts Draft, Diane Madison Miles and her husband, Fred, of Ivy, Mark Madison and his wife, Denise, of Charlottesville.

She will also be greatly missed by seven very special second cousins who were more like her nieces and nephews, Ryan and Lindsey Cooper, Lauren, Ali (her baby), and Hannah Miles, and Brandon and Marlena Madison. They and their parents were her second family.

Also surviving are four nephews, CT Bailey and his wife, Paula, and family of Alabama, Jim and John Bailey and families of Illinois; and one niece, Denise Rea of Charlottesville, Va.

She will be fondly remembered by special friends , James, Violet, Debbie and Barbara Harding of Crozet, and all of her bingo family including good friend, Effie Nash.

Carolyn graduated from Albemarle High School in l963. She was a long time employee of Acme Visible Records in Crozet and also was employed by Ivy Industries until its closing.

Carolyn had an infectious laugh and touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved Christmas, Elvis, and especially playing bingo on Saturday nights at the Moose Lodge in Crozet. Carolyn was especially devoted to her dear mother whom she cared for during her long battle with Alzheimers. She loved being with " The Kids" and enjoyed many memorable vacation trips , holidays, birthdays, and outings with her second family.

The family would especially like to thank the second floor ICU nurses at Martha Jefferson Hospital and Hospice Volunteer, Brenda Welch for their devoted care during Carolyn's time there.

We will greatly miss her but know she is in heaven with her mother and her second mother Bess

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to, American Lung Association of Virginia, 9221 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, VA 23235, or Alzheimers' Association, 1807 Seminole Trial, Charlottesville, VA 22901 or Hospice of Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Monticello Memory Gardens.
