Ruth May Davis - Class Of 1962

Ruth May Davis, of Afton, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at a local hospital.

She was born October 8, 1943, in Charlottesville, to the late Clarence Coleman Davis and Hattie Lillian Wells Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Jr., William, and Donald Davis; and sisters, Mary Cummings and Joyce Davis.

Ruth is survived by two sisters, Mable Pugh of Afton, who was her primary caregiver and with whom she lived, and Dorothy Herring of Charlottesville; three sistersin-law, Virginia Davis of Charlottesville, Barbara Davis of Edgewood, Maryland, and Peggy Davis of Afton; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ruth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enjoyed attended church and bearing her testimony. She served a mission for the church in the Phillipines from 1986 until 1987.She was a retired LPN from Martha Jefferson Hospital, where working in the newborn nursery was a great joy to her.

Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2007, at Anderson Funeral Home, St. George Avenue, Crozet.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2985 Hydraulic Rd, Charlottesville, with interment to follow at Rockgate Cemetery in Crozet.
