James Earl Board - Class Of 1962

James Earl Board Sr. "Jim", 75, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Charlottesville.

He was born on October 7, 1942, in Christiansburg, Virginia.

 He was the son of the late James Ernest Board and Bettie Jane Smith Board. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Maria G. Board.

He is survived by one son, James Earl Board Jr. of Charlottesville, Virginia, and his wife, Margien; two daughters, Lisa Anne Board and Sara Anne Board of Richmond, Virginia; and grandchildren, Alison and Doc Powell. He will also be missed by several cousins and extended family.

Jim was a USMC veteran of Vietnam, serving as Sergeant until September 1967. He owned and operated his painting contractor service, James Board Painting in Charlottesville for many years. Jim was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bluegrass music.

A graveside memorial service by the Reverend Steve Board will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at noon at the Wilson Cemetery located in Floyd County, Virginia. Inurnment arrangements will be handled by Horne Funeral Service in Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at teaguefuneralhome.com.
