Claudia Zimmerman Williams
Claudia Zimmerman Williams, 67, a lifelong resident of Charlottesville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
She was born in Charlottesville on December 3, 1941, to the late Clarence C. and Christine C. Zimmerman.
Claudia's primary purpose in life and her reason for living was her family. She was a loving wife, a kind and caring mother and grandmother, a sister and friend. She took special enjoyment caring for her young grandchildren. She loved her Sunday family dinners which she lovingly prepared for many, many years. Claudia was known to many simply as "Mom", and her door was always open. She was a generous soul who gave abundantly to so many. Claudia especially enjoyed keeping in touch with her high school classmates and their monthly dinner meetings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Cleveland Zimmerman Jr.; a sister, Carol Z. May; and her father-in-law, Kemp Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tommy K. Williams; her three sons, Jeffrey Paul Williams and his wife, Yolie, Stirling Grant Williams and his wife, Robin, and Neil Kevin Williams and his wife, Kristi, all of Charlottesville; five grandchildren, Kelly and Katherine Williams, Tyler and Brady Williams and Sean Fry; a sister, Yvonne Smithers; three brothers, Harry T., Randolph B., and Franklin H. Zimmerman, all of Charlottesville; her mother-in-law, Pauline Williams; a sister-in-law, Betty Zimmerman; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Williams and his wife, Kellie; and a sister-in-law, Paula Backe and her husband, Everett, all of Charlottesville.
Claudia is also survived by her aunt, Irma Clements; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; many cousins, and special friends, James and Shirley North of Charlottesville, as well as many other friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Teague Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Teague Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bobby Sylvia. Pallbearers will be Tom White, Blaine Zimmerman, Chris Zimmerman, Tony Fielding, Heath Zimmerman, Burke Zimmerman and Kevin Zimmerman.
Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
