Beverly Jean Parker (Henschen) - Class Of 1961

 

 

Beverly Jean Parker Henschen died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, after a courageous six year battle with cancer.

Born February 3, 1942, in San Diego, California, she grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. With her strong faith in God, Beverly touched the lives of many in all her activities in life and especially during her illness.

A graduate of Albemarle High School, she pursued a degree in psychology from Frederick College in Norfolk, Virginia. As character, Polly, in the hit musical "The Boyfriend" at Virginia Tech she fulfilled her interest in theater. Beverly served as Regent Jack Jouett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Beverly worked in home health care for several years and most recently was employed as sales associate with J.C. Penney Co. in Staunton and Charlottesville.

Surviving are her husband, John R. Henschen of Lake Monticello; parents, Lewis P. Parker of Boca Raton, Florida and Marion K. Parker of Crozet; daughter, Lucile Renee Brandenburger and her husband, William, of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Mary Lewis Kelsey of California; son, David Parker Camden of Charlottesville; sister, Brenda L. Pennline and her husband, James, of Strongsville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Grace Brandenburger, Benjamin Brandenburger and Elizabeth Brandenburger of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew, Brent Pennline and niece, Jamie Pennline, both of Strongsville, Ohio.

Surviving also are stepson, Thomas Henschen of Dayton, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Karla Kuykendall and her husband, Scott, of Dayton, Tennessee; stepson, Andrew Henschen and his wife, Angie, of Dayton, Tennessee; and seven step grandchildren, T.J. Henschen of Pensacola, Florida, Ashley Miles, Dyland Henschen, Dustin Henschen, Eric Kuykendall, Heather Henschen and Joshua Kuykendall, all of Dayton, Tennessee.

A memorial worship service will be held for Beverly, conducted by Pastor Rod Houppert, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2416 Jefferson Park Avenue, at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006.

Following the memorial service, Beverly's remains will be placed in a memorial bench atop Monticello Memory Gardens overlooking her beloved Charlottesville.

The family will receive friends for viewing from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Teague Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the University of Virginia Medical Center and Augusta Medical Center for their treatment and care of Beverly. Also, thanks go to the nurses and aides at Ruxton Health of Staunton who made her stay there both comfortable and enjoyable.
