Nancy Carol Eagle (Owens) - Class Of 1961 VIEW PROFILE

Nancy Eagle Owens, 69, of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2012.

She was born in Marlington, West Virginia, on March 3, 1943, the daughter of the late Hercel and Mary Eagle.

Nancy was third in her class of 365 graduates from Albemarle High School, in 1961; and she received that year's United States History and Good Citizenship commendation. In 1987, she received a Career Studies Certificate in Business and Office Curriculum from Piedmont Virginia Community College where she continued to further her studies for several years. In 1990, at the University of Virginia she received a Supervisory Development Program Certificate from Training and Development. Nancy's organizational and management skills allowed her to hold a number of challenging positions in Office Management throughout the years, and she worked as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Albemarle Public Schools in the late 60's and early 70s; a Bookkeeper/Secretary for a member of the Firestone Family, Edgehill Farm in the late 70's to early 80's; and from 1984 to the present she was the Executive Secretary to the Director of the Housing Division of the University of Virginia. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend.

Her survivors include two sons, Barry Wyatt Owens and Joseph Brandon Owens and wife, Holly, of Charlottesville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Kimberly Rochelle Owens; and one sister, Betty Williams of Daleville, Virignia.

A memorial service will be held at the Ivy Creek Methodist Church, 674 Woodlands Road, Charlottesville, Virginia, 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ivy Creek Methodist Church, 674 Woodlands Road, Charlottesville, Virginia.

J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles "Connie" Crenshaw (1958)

Nancy was a good friend.  She was always friendly and had a beautiful smile.  Both of our families lived in the Earlysville area for a good while.and our children were also good friends.  I know Nancy will be missed and pray for the best for her two sons Barry and Brandon.
