Thomas A. "Pete" Ballard - Class Of 1961

Thomas “Pete” Andrew Ballard left this Earth to be with his heavenly father on August 5th of 2018. Pete was born December 29th, 1942 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Cecil and Ruby Ballard, and had a very full life doing what he enjoyed, farming and spending time with his wife and family. You would never see Pete without his famous cowboy hats. He loved family vacations, taking his grandchildren to play putt putt, and eating banana pudding ice cream every chance he got.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents. He was survived by his wife of 20 years, Jane Ballard, his son Andy, his daughters Debbie and Sandy, his stepchildren, John, Alisa, and Laura, all of his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his special sidekick, Harley the Maltese. In addition, Pete appreciated time spent with Martha Gray, speaking with the late Charlie Gray about farming, and his stepson, Josh, who was always there to help him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Special thank you to the UVA Hospital’s sixth floor NICU for their special care for Pete in his passing.

Visitation will be held at Teague Funeral Home from 6-8 August 9th. All of his family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Pete’s life by sharing memories of him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations be made to the Crozet Rescue, the Nelson County Rescue or the North Garden Rescue Squads.
