Montie Rea Pace - Class Of 1959

Montie Rea Pace, 77, of Charlottesville, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at his home, Park Hill Farm, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 21, 1941, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., the son of the late Harry Hamilton Pace and Linda Gertrude Price Pace.

He is survived by his adored wife of 54 years, Teresa Staley Pace; two sons Montie R. Pace Jr. and wife, Patty, and Matthew Hamilton Pace; devoted daughter, Heather Alis Pace Williams and husband, David; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was beloved by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Hamilton Walter Pace; and two sisters, Alma Gertrude Pace Wade and Mary Louise Pace Gentry.

Montie was a good steward of the land in his ties to farming and forestry. He helped in the community with road improvements, helping to found the Stony Point Fire Department, keeping the school open, and countless other acts. He had an incredible work ethic, and he enjoyed his free time with many activities that revolved around his beloved friends. Montie's motto in life was to work hard and to play hard. He was a self-made man and believed that when you took on a job it was to be done right or not at all.

His service will be private and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
