Edith Nay (Leathers) - Class Of 1959

Leathers, EdithEdith Louise Leathers, 74, of Afton passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Born in Virginia on August 26, 1941, she was the daughter of Margaret Harding Nay and the late James H. Nay.

Edith was a graduate of Albemarle High School and was self-employed for many years. She loved all kinds of flowers, especially bleeding heart flowers.She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Leathers; and a sister, Annie Nay Mahanes.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Curtis Leathers; and two sons, Marvin Leathers of Afton, and Curtis Wayne Leathers of Waynesboro. She is also survived by three grandsons, Jeremy, Kevin, and Tyler Leathers; one great granddaughter, McKenzie Ann Marie Leathers; brothers, James E. Nay of Ruckersville, W. Ronnie (Meta) Nay of Earlysville, and Cecil (Mary) Nay of Ruckersville; a sister Judy N. (Larry) Williams of Lynchburg, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at McDow Funeral Home, 1701 West Main Street, Waynesboro.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Rodes United Methodist Church in Afton, with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery in Batesville.
