Carolyn A. Majors, 68, of Roanoke, Va., died on Thursday morning, August 20, 2009, at her home surrounded by friends and family. Carolyn was a graduate of Concord College and was a retired computer operator with Shenandoah Life Insurance Company. Her greatest love and enjoyment in life was working in her flower beds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin W. and Rocille Ganey Majors. Carolyn is survived by her long time companion, Dawn M. Burnette, of Roanoke; her special family, Missy, Kevin, Collyn, and Bradley Taylor, Sandy and Al Taylor, all of Irmo, S.C., Jim and Jane Bullion, of Roanoke; and many special friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Center and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for all their care and concern for Carolyn during her illness. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009, in Fair View Cemetery with Jim Bullion officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.
