Margaret Ann Graves (Gentry) - Class Of 1959

argaret Graves Gentry of North Garden passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 80. Margaret was born on August 20, 1941, to the late Rufus I. Graves, Sr. and Christa Carter Graves. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lewis Gordon Gentry and her brother Rufus I Graves, Jr.

She grew up in the Crozet community, attended Crozet School and was a graduate of Albemarle High School. Except for a few years as a teaching assistant at Red Hill Elementary School, Margaret spent the majority of her career in the medical profession as a licensed practical nurse and office manager with several medical practices in the Charlottesville area.

She was a long standing member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the Choir, was a founding member of the Mt. Olivet Willing Workers, served on the Church Board, assisted with many of the fundraisers for the community, and helping prepare many meals, including her famous homemade yeast rolls, for various church activities.

Margaret was also an avid gardener, particularly loving flowers and vegetables, enjoyed collecting antiques from many yard sales, vacationing to the Outer Banks, and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Gentry and his wife Susan McLear Gentry of Fishersville, her daughter Judith Anne Gentry of North Garden, her loving grandchildren Jason Lynn Gentry and his fiancée Emily Thomas, Ashley Nicole Gentry, Joshua Gordon Craig, and Sara Mae Craig. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Graves Raines of Charlottesville, a very special friend and companion, Buddy Thomas of North Garden, former son-in-law George W. Craig of North Garden as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 6-8pm at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville, VA. A public graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, 2500 Old Lynchburg Rd, North Garden, VA on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11 a.m.
