She is survived by two sons, Barry Nelson Yancey and his wife, Joyce, and William Kevin Yancey and his wife, Mandy; two precious grandsons, Byron and Nicholas Yancey; three sisters, Frances Morris, Marie Herring and Catherine Dudley; a loving and caring brother-in-law, Marshall V. She also leaves her extended family, Charlie's daughter, Dawn, and her husband, Scott Isner, and their very special children, Nate and Sam of Richmond; Fran and Jim DeLeon and John DeLeon of Chicago; Clyde Bell of Alabama; Jim Harlow, Jim Budd and Lane, of Charlottesville.
In addition she leaves many friends and co-workers from the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she worked for 30 years as well as many more co-workers and wonderful friends she met while working part time at Hoo's Kitchen and Sam's Kitchen. During her free time she enjoyed shopping, traveling, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
A memorial service will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Teague Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Greg Anderson officiating.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hospice of the Piedmont, all of her doctors and especially Dr. Strieter of the University of Virginia for the loving care she received during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, Jo's request was that donations be made to the Rescue Squad, Hospice of the Piedmont or Belmont Baptist Church.
