Samuel Patteson Clarke (1966)
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Monroe Sprouse Sr. and Virginia Morris Sprouse and a brother, Thomas Sprouse Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rosalind W. Sprouse; his children, Robin V. Farley and her friend, Robert Boland, Debra S. Rasnake and her husband, Jeffrey, James A. Sprouse Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; one brother, John N. Sprouse and his wife, Gwen; his grandchildren, Darrell "Gene" Farley Jr., Matthew Farley, Andrew Farley, Brian Farley, Jeffrey Rasnake Jr. (his sidekick), Daniel Rasnake, Carleigh Sprouse, Joshua Sprouse; a special family friend, Peggy Smith; his aunts, Vivian Morris, Carrie Farrish and Rosa Barnett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Sprouse worked at Alberene Stone Company, Augusta Lumber Company and retired from Sperry Marine after 33 years of service. He loved to plant and work his vegetable garden, loved his animals and was always a caring person willing to help anyone who needed it.
He was an active member of Alberene Baptist Church in Alberene where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006, with the Reverend Jeff Cale officiating. Interment will follow in Alberene Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville.
The family thanks all who stopped by to visit James during his illness and appreciate the phone calls and those who dropped off food. Special thanks are given for Dr. Lori Bubb for all of her care and for Hospice of the Piedmont.
