Shirley Marie Satterfield (Flynn) - Class Of 1956 VIEW PROFILE

Shirley Flynn passed from this world on May 8th with her hand held by her eldest son. Shirley was born in Takoma Park, MD. on Feb. 2. 1938, the daughter of Viola Morris Satterfield Cassidy and John R. Satterfield, Her husband of 55 years is Leslie Flynn and they have three sons; Kevin (Holly) of Valrico, Colin (Laurie) of Cape Coral, and Darren (Carol Kochan) of Melbourne and 3 grandchildren: Shea and Casey (Kevin), and Connor (Colin). Shirley is also survived by her sister, Genie Bohn of Satellite Beach. She would like to thank her many relatives and friends for their kind support during her illness.

Shirley was a graduate of Westhampton College of the University of Richmond and a Williams Scholar. She also received a BA in education from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, and an MA in Guidance Counseling and Psychology from Rollins and is a past member of MENSA. Shirley was a Hospital/Homebound teacher for Brevard county schools for 20 years.

Shirley was also a member of the commodore John Barry chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). An avid reader, Shirley collected the complete works of Willa Cather and Tony Hillerman.  She loved to travel, especially through the Navaho country and the national parks of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.

The Neptune Society is in charge of final arrangements. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations of remembrance may be sent to Hospice of Health First or the local Humane Society.
