Guntis Uldis Baltins - Class Of 1955

Guntis "Gun" Ultis Baltins, 77, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2016, in Charlottesville.

Born on July 25, 1938, in Latvia, he was the son of the late August S. Baltins and Alma Leontine Baltins. He was also predeceased by his sister, Ingrida Miltrede Baltins.

Gun was an intelligent and ambitious man. After graduating from UVA with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he had a long career as an engineer with Avionic Specialties, Inc. Gun held a European patent for the invention for Improvements to Multi-Function Aircraft Probes. He enjoyed reading and sports cars. Gun played competitive pool, winning several local 8 Ball tournaments.

Gun was survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, who just passed away this week. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Carla Hawk (Jerry) and Charlynn Throckmorton (Sidney); great-nieces, Caly E. and Rylee A. Emerson; great-nephew, Henley H. Chayka; and a great-great-niece, Charlotte A. Patton.

A Funeral Service for Shirley and a Memorial Service for Gun will be held concurrently at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017,at the Hill and Wood Chapel with Chaplain David Cole officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made in Gun's honor to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.
