Evelyn Gray Shaver, 63, of Staunton, died Thursday, January 28, 1999, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

Mrs. Shaver was born April 9, 1935, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late John E. and Rachel Farris Gray. 

She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.  She retired as a hostess at Rowe's Restaurant in Staunton.

Mrs. Shaver was preceded in death by her husband, Orvie Marvin Shaver, Jr., in 1968; and one sister, Thelma Johns.

Survivors include one son, John "Kevin" Shaver and his wife Rita, of Verona; one sister, Joyce Coffey, of Waynesboro; and two grandchildren, Kyle Shaver and Aaron Shaver of Verona.

A service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday at Hebron Baptist Church in Afton by the Rev. John Chafee and assisted by the Rev. William Schmeissing.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Marshall, David Elmore, Joe Pugh, and Anthony Graves.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM Saturday at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro and at other times at the residence of her sister, Joyce Coffey, 1155 Gardner Street, Waynesboro,
