FREDERICKSBURG - Douglas Caldwell Davis died Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home in Fredericksburg, TX. He was born in Charlottesville, VA on June 13, 1951 and lived there until he was 20, when he left to head west. He graduated from Albemarle High School and went on to graduate summa cum laude from the "University of Life" as he referred to it.

He was well known in the Texas Hill Country as "Cowboy Doug Davis", a respected musician and cowboy poet. His musical career included bands such as Al Dressen's Super Swing Review, Intexication, The Supernatural Family Band, Freddy Steady's Wild Country, The 620 Ranch Hands, The Note Ropers, Texas Style, Flying J Wranglers, The Stony Ridge Playboys, and The Lonesome Riders, to name a few.
