Today's AHS team

In all, more than 70 members of the faculty, staff and student body of Albemarle helped us put on "A Night To Remember." They are an amazing team and we owe them a big "thank you"!

We talked about the cheerleaders on another page on the site, but we want to thank them again for their enthusiam, beautiful voices and especially for remembering the Fight Song!

Jay Thomas, the 5th principal of Albemarle High School, welcomed everyone to the evening and was an invaluable help throughout the planning of the event and on the 13th as well. He made us feel at home again.

Jennifer Layman Morris, the choral director at Albemarle, was not fortunate enough to graduate from AHS, but her Mom, Dad and several aunts and uncles did. She helped with planning, and also favored us with a beautiful song. She sang "You Raise Me Up" to Mr. Hurt just before he was introduced.

Richard Lindsay, a teacher and tennis coach at AHS was also invaluable in planning the event. He volunteered his club, the Patriot Athletic Leaders, as ushers, guides and extra hands before and after the event. Mr. Lindsay could not join us because his tennis team was competing for the district championship on Friday night.

Ms. Fay Cunningham, the award winning director of the drama department at Albemarle provided advice and assistance to us and made everyone feel at home on her stage. If you have a chance, don't miss her production of Thoroughly Modern Millie next year.

Thanks also to the media center staff (we called it the "Library"), the facilities group, the office staff and all other members of the AHS team that helped in so many ways.

Last, but definitely not least, thanks to Albemarle music director, Greg Thomas. His jazz ensemble entertained before the event and the jazz trio performed in the cafeteria later. They are award winners and it was easy to see why. You can hear them by clicking here.
